Free Stock Items

Free Stock Items were added to core Acumatica as of the 2021 R2 build.

For Acumatica versions 2021 R2 and above, this feature can be found via Stock Items > Related Items tab

The following Free Stock Items page is only applicable if you are running an Acumatica build prior to 2021 R2.

[Legacy] Free Stock Items

Merchants can incentivize their consumers by implementing “free gift” promotions. The Free Stock Item can be associated with a stock or non-stock item and inventory levels will be adjusted through the standard inventory receipt and sales order processes. 

Enable this Feature

  1. Go to the Inventory workspace.

  2. Click Stock Items, under the Profiles menu.

  3. Open or create a stock item.

  4. Click the Related Items tab.

  5. Scroll down to the Free Items table.

  6. Select an Inventory ID for the item you want to assign as “Free”.

  7. Enter the Quantity.

  8. Enter the Start/End Dates for the free promotion.

  9. Enter a Reason Code.

  10. Click Save.

How to Apply

  1. Create a Sales Order.

  2. Select an Inventory ID that has a free item assigned.

  3. Select the Free Item checkbox.

  4. Click Save.

Users can assign an alternate item for free items when quantities are no longer available.

To assign an alternate free item:

  1. Add the free stock item to the Alternate Item table, then select the Use When No Stock checkbox and select the Use on SO checkbox.

  2. These two settings will assign the alternate item as a free item.
